RFPL is a tax-supported public library. All residents and property owners in River Forest are eligible to receive a free library card. RFPL also extends borrowing privileges to non-residents as provided in this policy.
RFPL uses its Collection Management Policy to develop, manage, and maintain a collection of materials to support RFPL’s service goals as identified in the current strategic plan.
RFPL offers events and programs to meet the needs and interests of the River Forest community as identified in the strategic plan. RFPL events and programs provide a free source of exploration, learning, entertainment, and cultural enrichment to patrons beyond the collection resources.
Meeting rooms and study spaces are available to support RFPL’s mission and strategic goals. When not in use for RFPL activities, they may be made available for use by the public under the following conditions.
All patrons are expected to abide by RFPL policies and to respect the rights of others in order to create an environment conducive to equitable and enjoyable use of RFPL and its grounds.
RFPL abides by the Library Records Confidentiality Act (75 ILCS 70/1)(“LRCA”) which states that circulation and registration records of a library are “Confidential Information”.
RFPL uses security cameras to discourage inappropriate and illegal activities, including violations of the Library’s Code of Conduct, while respecting the confidentiality of Library records and patron privacy in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
