Event Description

Wally’s Hearth invites you to a powerful screening of The Cheryl Hauser Effect, an intimate documentary that follows one Minnesota woman’s courageous decision to end her Alzheimer’s journey through VSED (Voluntarily Stopping Eating and Drinking). At seventy-six, Cheryl Hauser became a clear, conscious advocate for end-of-life autonomy—choosing intention, dignity, and self-determination during her final chapter. Her story, both deeply personal and profoundly public, has helped spark a national conversation about choice, values, and what it means to die on one’s own terms. Following the film, we will hold a facilitated community discussion on end-of-life options, care models, and the broader movement toward person-centered dying. As a social model hospice home in development, Wally’s Hearth is honored to host this dialogue and to create space for reflection, learning, and compassionate conversation.
