Job Description: River Forest Public Library is looking for an enthusiastic Children’s Services Librarian to join our creative and collaborative Children’s Services Department, serving kids from age 0 through 4th grade and their families. The ideal candidate has genuine enthusiasm for working with children in a library setting and a passion for children’s literature, experience with outreach, storytimes and other programming for kids, and loves interacting with the community. We are a small library and very collaborative, thus the ideal candidate will not only work well independently, but also within a team driven environment.
The Children’s Services Librarian will assist the Manager of Children’s Services with:
Developing and implementing a wide range of programs for children (from age 0 through 4th grade)
Managing and maintaining Children’s print and digital collections
Outreach programming within the community
Providing reference and readers’ advisory services in the Children’s Room
Regular and ongoing administrative tasks within the Department
Requirements:
MLS from an ALA accredited school
At least one year of experience working in a library setting
At least one year of experience working with children and their families
Starting Salary Range: $26.04-$30.63/hr., depending on qualifications.
