Parking

Library patrons may park on Lathrop Avenue in front of the Library, where 6 spaces are available for 30 minutes and 1 handicapped space is available with no time limit. 3 hour parking is also available on Jackson Avenue on the east side of the street. Patrons may park on Chicago Avenue or other area streets unless posted signage indicates otherwise.

RFPL has limited use of the adjacent parking lot south of the building, as it is owned by District 90. The lot will be closed by District 90 beginning June 6th for construction and will reopen in late summer. Upon the reopening of the lot, Library patrons will have access to 9 designated visitor spaces during the day and additional spaces during times when school is not in session. A bookdrop will also be installed in the interior Lathrop drive in order to facilitate easy return of library materials.

If you have difficulty getting to the Library, RFPL offers home delivery [link to home delivery page] of materials.

Meeting Room Use

While there are comfortable places to work and read throughout the building, the Library does not have private study rooms. River Forest card holders in good standing may reserve the one public meeting room for groups of up to 50 people by completing a request form [link to Request the Meeting Room Page].

Computer Use & Printing

Free wifi is available throughout the building and in the front garden via the RFPL_Public network, with no need to enter a password. Seated public Internet workstations are available for children on the first floor and for adults and teens on the second floor. Adult River Forest card holders may also check out a laptop for use in the building. Limited computer guest passes are available for non-River Forest residents.

The Library offers weekly drop-in Computer Learning Labs [insert link] to assist beginner and intermediate home users. If you are looking for more advanced assistance or to learn on your own schedule, check out lynda.com available online with your RFPL card. With lynda tutorials, you’ll learn the latest software, creative, and business skills, through high-quality online instructional videos featuring recognized industry experts.

Printing is available in the Library for $.10/page for black ink and $.50/page for color ink. You may also print from outside of the library building and pick-up your print job at the Library using our web printing service.
