Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month at Your Library with books, displays, and a special Mariachi Performance on October 1
September 15-October 15 is National Hispanic Heritage Month and your Library is here to celebrate with you.
We invite everyone to join us on Sunday, October 1 at 1:15 PM, for a special performance by Chicago’s First All-Women Mariachi Band, Mariachi Sirenas. Mariachi Sirenas was founded by members Ibet Herrera and Eréndira Izguerra, both with a dream to bring women together for the art of mariachi music in their hometown. ¡Que viva la mujer y nuestra tradición Mexicana, si señor…a! We are thrilled to be able to welcome them to the Library.
The concert will be held outside in the garden but will be moved fireside in case of rain. Don’t miss your chance to see this exceptional group.
Throughout the month, you will find special displays in the library building, highlighting titles featuring Hispanic authors or themes. Stop by to explore and discover something new.
Here are some recommended reads from our librarians.
