August Early Literacy Tip

Connect Books and Movies
Many wonderful children’s books have been made into feature films. One way to motivate and to extend the reading experience is to choose a good book to read prior to watching the movie. Make it a whole family activity by reading aloud or using multiple copies. Then create a special movie night to watch the film version. Be sure to discuss how the book and movie differed and which version was preferred. You will be reinforcing critical thinking skills including analysis and comparison while having fun. Stop in the Children’s Room to pick up some good book and movie combinations.
