Read a variety of books!
Variety really is the spice of life. Let your little one select books about a wide range of topics. Limiting them to certain types of books or preventing them from reading others can create a negative association with reading. Here in the public library, we want reading to be fun!
Is your child too little to know what they want yet? That’s okay too! Ask a librarian for our recommendations and we will happily select a variety of books for you. You can even help your little one work on the ability to choose by holding up two options for them when it’s time to sit down and read. Whichever book they point to is the one you read!
