Are you seeing items on your online account that you already returned? Is your account blocked from overdue items you returned a few days ago?
When you return your library items, they are not checked in immediately. Returned items are placed in quarantine for 7 days.
Why are we quarantining returned materials? Unlike retail stores and restaurants that can offer more one-way transactions, libraries circulate items between many people. This poses a different health risk to staff and the public, both when items are handled and returned. Read more about the IMLS C-19 partnership study and RAILS.
We are here to help resolve any account situations. We are working hard to get library materials back into circulation as safely and as quickly as possible. We do not charge overdue fines on items checked out at the River Forest Public Library.
