Early Literacy Tip – April 2020

Bring the stories to life

When reading to your little one, bring the stories to life. Use your voice to add inflection and to match the tone of the stories. Everyone will have more fun when you paint a fuller picture of the story with your voice.

Does the story you’re reading have two characters? Give each character a different voice to showcase the difference between them. Is your story exciting? Get just as excited as the character in the book! Your child will match that excitement with you. Showcasing a broad range of emotions in stories can also help build emotional literacy and understanding.
