Give Children Chores—Part 2

The key to raising kids who help out around the house is starting early with age appropriate chores. When they can accomplish a task on their own, they will feel more confident in their abilities and proud of how they can help the family. Because each child is different, be flexible with what you can expect at each age and model and assist as needed.  Here are a few suggestions:

18 Months

  • Pick up toys and put in bin
  • Stack books and return to shelf
  • Water plants

2 Years

  • Put dirty clothes in hamper
  • Pick up trash

3 Years

  • Help make beds
  • Sweep and use a dust pan
