Saturday, 5/5, 2-3:30 PM, Rise and Shine Disney and WWII

Although the Disney Studio was the toast of Hollywood animation in the 1930s, its fortunes fell quickly on the eve of WWII. Film instructor Jason Sperb discusses Disney’s vital–but now forgotten-contribution to the war effort as a prolific producer of hundreds of educational, industrial, and propaganda films during the Second World War–an effort which not only helped save the country but also the studio that would go on to be an American cultural institution. Sperb will show film clips during the presentation. Brought to you in partnership with the River Forest Township.
