Play with Puzzles

Puzzles present many benefits for children as they develop.  Children usually start out with simple knobbed puzzles.  From there they go to more complex pictures that take more consideration, and then onto jigsaw puzzles with many pieces.  Working puzzles is a fun way to spend time together while developing skills in three basic areas:

*Physical skills—from holding puzzle pieces and turning them until they fit

*Cognitive skills—as they solve the problems of a puzzle

*Emotional skills—as they learn patience and are rewarded when they complete the puzzle
